Academic Staff Member, Dairy Processing programme
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a 0.8 Full-time equivalent to deliver NZ Diploma in Dairy Processing level 6. The role will commence in January 2027, in preparation for teaching from February.
This position is based at the Wintec City Campus, where you will join a supportive team committed to ākonga-centred learning that empowers students to progress confidently into degree-level study or employment.
Our Dairy Processing programme is designed for learners working within the dairy industry and develops advanced knowledge and practical capability across dairy processing and manufacturing. In this role, you will draw on your industry knowledge and experience to support learners to apply their learning directly within their workplace and professional practice.
In this role, you will:
• Facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences for Dairy Processing students.
• Instruct and mentor students in both theoretical concepts and their practical application within dairy processing environments.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Stay current with industry and educational best practices.
He kōrero mōu| About you
You will bring strong dairy industry knowledge and a passion for sharing your expertise with the next generation of dairy professionals. You will be comfortable working with learners who bring their own industry experience to the classroom and will be able to connect technical concepts with real-world dairy processing practice.
To be successful in this role you will have:
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
• Relevant experience within the dairy processing or dairy manufacturing industry.
• A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are supported in their educational journey.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a current NZ work permit
Previous tertiary teaching, training, mentoring, or assessment experience would be advantageous. A relevant adult teaching qualification would also be desirable, however, support may be available to develop your teaching capability if you are transitioning from industry into tertiary education.
