Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We are looking for a midwifery lecturer to join our dynamic team for Te Kuratini o Waikato Bachelor of Midwifery programme. We have a commitment to excellence in our teaching and support of midwifery ākonga. We are interested in hearing from people with a strong desire to support work towards equitable outcomes for Māori and mana-enhancing Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships. 

This role has opportunities for curriculum development as we roll out the unified midwifery programme which is a joint venture between Wintec, Ara and OP midwifery kura. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in beginning a research pathway.

We are seeking someone with strengths in physiological birth, community midwifery and supporting diversity. 

This is your opportunity to positively impact on the midwifery journey for ākonga and help to grow our future workforce. You will work with ākonga to support their learning by providing teaching within the degree programme and facilitating student problem solving, reflection on practice and skills development.   

He kōrero mōu| About you

· Be a Registered Midwife within Aotearoa, with at least five years’ experience who is passionate about midwifery education  

  • Have a commitment to development of  understanding of Mātauranga Māori , Tikanga and Te Reo.
  • Be committed to working in a Te Tiriti honouring      programme 
  • Confident with clinical, face to face and the      online teaching environment 
  • A passion for supporting students to succeed 
  • Relevant teaching experience, and holds a  completed Adult Tertiary Teaching certificate or equivalent, or be prepared to enrol in this.
  • Hold a      Masters’ or PhD degree or be currently engaged in ongoing or committed to start post graduate education
